Each race-used gear ratio from the MGP-W02 is hand embedded in high optical quality acrylic for an impressive piece of memorabilia, which preserves the racing heritage for generations to come. The main curved acrylic section is bonded to a Petronas green acrylic plinth to incorporate the team colours. The team logo, and a description of the embedded part are also all embedded within the acrylic itself.
The gear ratio is a fine example of Formula One™ engineering - it once changed gear 50 times faster than you can blink on Schumacher's MGP-W02 car - and helped provide 'seamless acceleration'; changing from one gear to the next, without losing any power from the engine. The gear ratio's original F1® engraved part identification numbers are still clearly visible within the acrylic.
