This particular rear wing flap was used on the car for the 2016 German Grand Prix in which Alonso finished just outside the points. Featuring the team name against a sleek black backdrop, this rear wing flap is a centrepiece with a great story. The purpose of the DRS flap is to help the car gather higher speed along straights – aiding overtakes. When the driver is in a DRS zone and within the reach of the driver ahead, the DRS flap opens on the rear wing, allowing the car to gain more speed.
Fernando Alonso enjoyed two stints with the iconic McLaren team. He first joined the team in 2007, spending only one season with them – an immensely successful one, finishing third in the Drivers’ World Championship. He then returned to the team in 2015, driving for them for four more seasons until the end of 2018.
This framed rear wing flap is ready to be added to your F1 memorabilia collection. A true piece of McLaren heritage.
