What does officially licensed F1® memorabilia mean?

Official licensing establishes an authorised connection to the sport. Learn what it means for your collection and how our Formula 1® and team partnerships support it.

Officially licensed F1® memorabilia is produced or offered with permission from the relevant rights holder to use its branding within an agreed scope. At F1® Authentics, our official relationship with Formula 1® and partnerships with teams across the grid underpin the collection we offer and establish an authorised connection to Formula 1® for collectors.

An Official F1® Licensed Partner

F1® Authentics is operated by Memento Exclusives. Our licensing partnership with Formula 1® began in 2019 and has been extended through 2030, confirming our continuing role as an official Formula 1® memorabilia platform.

For fans and collectors, this means our official status is backed by a relationship with the sport itself. Formula 1® has publicly confirmed the partnership and its extension.

Our relationships with the teams

Alongside our Formula 1® partnership, we have partnerships with 10 of the 11 teams across the grid. These relationships give us access to team memorabilia, race-used materials and collector pieces connected to the drivers competing on track.

Formula 1® licensing and individual team agreements cover different rights. Permission to use Formula 1® branding does not automatically include every team’s branding. Each agreement determines the products and branding it covers.

That distinction helps explain why official relationships exist both with the sport and with individual teams.

Can a replica be officially licensed?

Yes. An officially licensed replica is an authorised recreation of an original design. It can represent a driver’s helmet or a car component without being the item used on track.

“Replica” describes the type of product. “Officially licensed” describes the permission behind the use of the relevant branding or design.

For a collector, a licensed replica offers a way to display a favourite design in a format suited to their collection. Its scale, materials and features are set out in the individual product description.

How does licensing differ from authentication?

Licensing establishes permission from the relevant rights holder. Authentication supports the identity and claims attached to an individual piece.

An officially licensed replica helmet, for example, is an authorised product. If it is also described as personally signed by a driver, the signature is a separate detail supported by the authentication supplied for that item.

The same applies to race-used memorabilia. Official licensing alone does not identify when a component was used or which driver wore a piece of racewear. Those details belong to the individual item’s history and supporting information.

What official licensing means for your purchase

Official licensing gives you a clear basis for understanding a product’s authorised connection to the sport. The product description then explains what you are buying, including whether it is a replica, signed or race-used, and the details supplied with it.

At F1® Authentics, our Formula 1® partnership and team relationships bring that official connection to the collection. Whether you are choosing a display piece or memorabilia with a history on track, you can select the product that reflects how you follow the sport.
