Story
The Alfa Romeo C42 competed in the 2022 Formula 1® World Championship and marked the team’s first season running under the new ground-effect regulations. It was launched on 27th February 2022 and introduced a bold red-and-white livery that celebrated the brand’s Italian heritage.
The car was powered by a Ferrari engine and driven by Valtteri Bottas, who joined from Mercedes, alongside rookie Zhou Guanyu – the first ever Chinese driver to start a Formula 1® race. The team achieved a strong start to the season, scoring points consistently across the opening rounds. Their best result came at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where Bottas finished 5th. The C42 ultimately secured 6th place in the Constructors’ Championship.
