Story

Evoking the rich tradition and modern evolution of Atlassian Williams Racing, the FW47 Special Edition ‘Driven By Words’ Livery Show Car is a tangible tribute to a visually daring and technically advanced F1® machine.

First seen roaring around the tracks of the São Paulo Grand Prix in 2025, this unique livery, produced in partnership with Gulf, marks a bold and innovative chapter in Williams’ illustrious Formula 1® story. The unique design celebrates the passion and emotion of racing fans through a one-of-a-kind livery, featuring 493 words that fans from around the world submitted as what they associate with Williams Racing and Gulf International Oil.

2025 has been a turning point in the modern legacy of this iconic team and now, you can be part of the story, in the form of an exceptional, beautiful, officially licensed Show Car – offered exclusively to collectors for a limited time through the F1® Authentics Auction.

Built on History

Founded in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams and engineer Patrick Head, Williams Racing quickly grew into one of the sport’s most successful and influential institutions. Every car carries the FW initials, now up to the FW47, as a tribute to Frank Williams’ enduring influence and legacy.

Williams celebrated its first Grand Prix victory at Silverstone in 1977, the beginning of a golden era. Over the next two decades, the team would go on to win nine Constructors’ Championships and seven Drivers’ Championships, cementing itself as one of Formula 1’s true powerhouses. Only Ferrari has achieved more Constructors’ titles.

Williams’ list of Champions reads like a who’s who of motorsport greatness, from Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg and Nigel Mansell to Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. The appointment of James Vowles as Team Principal in 2023 was a pivotal moment. Renowned for his Championship-winning strategic leadership at Brawn GP and Mercedes-AMG Petronas, his rallying call to “Break Everything” symbolised a bold new mindset. Ever since, Williams has begun to rediscover its competitive edge, now racing forward with current drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.

Racing Royalty Reborn

The 2025 Formula One World Championship season has seen Atlassian Williams Racing make remarkable strides of continued resurgence, at time of writing sitting P5 in the Constructors’ Championship, the most competitive standing in years, with Carlos Sainz delivering Williams’ first podium since 2021 in Baku.

These results are indicators of a deeper transformation, a motorsports giant regaining its rhythm and confidence race by race. There is no better time for collectors to invest in a Williams Show Car, with the team’s journey back to the top well underway, all perfectly embodied in the special edition FW47 livery from the São Paulo Grand Prix.

A spiritual sequel to the 'Bolder than Bold' partnership between the team and Gulf two years ago, you can now be part of this legacy, by owning an officially licensed Show Car that perfectly re-creates a moment in time. The livery poured over this stunning item is an exact recreation of the one-time-only design seen on the FW47 that competed in Brazil during the 2025 Formula One World Championship.

A Livery Like No Other

Special liveries have grown in popularity across the grid in recent years, but the most iconic are those that have a unique story behind their design. For the recent Grand Prix at Interlagos, Williams fans were invited to submit their words for inclusion, resulting in over 140,000 votes - the most popular choices included ‘Legacy’, ‘Passion’ and ‘Teamwork’. These words were incorporated into this new design in iconic Gulf International Oil brand colours: trademark racing light blue and orange.

This colour scheme became iconic on race-winning cars in endurance racing and at Le Mans through the late 1960s and early 1970s. Gulf also sponsored other motorsport teams, including McLaren F1® Team, before aligning to Williams in 2023, delivering special liveries at the Singapore, Japanese and Qatar Grands Prix that season.

Beneath these special features are familiar tones of blue, an evolution of Williams’ classic aesthetic, reinterpreted with contemporary flair, highlighting the journey from heritage into a new, data-driven future. The eye-catching Duracell battery intake remains and is joined by the Atlassian emblem, as well as other title sponsors such as Komatsu.

Speaking on the livery launching ahead of the Grand Prix in Brazil, James Vowles, Team Principal of Atlassian Williams Racing said: “As an iconic Formula 1® team with a Championship-winning legacy and a plan to win again, we know Atlassian Williams Racing means so much to our millions of fans around the world. This incredible livery campaign with Gulf has really brought that to life, and it will be a privilege to race every lap in Brazil with the passion and emotion of our fans woven into this beautiful design on the car.”

Mike Jones, CEO, Gulf Oil International also commented: “Through our partnership with Williams, we continue to celebrate those who truly make racing matter – the fans. This livery is created by them and their passion for the Gulf brand. ‘Driven by Words’ marks another moment in Gulf’s exceptional racing history, and we are thrilled to see this unique livery come to life on-track in Brazil.”

The Collector’s Choice

Every inch of the livery now found on this limited edition Show Car carries the DNA of the F1® team and Gulf’s storied past and ambitious future. It introduces fresh stylistic elements, in support of technical artistry and eye-catching words in languages from around the world. The result is a truly global looking piece, that feels carefully considered as a visual reflection of Williams’ renewed sense of self. A celebration of all that was, all that is and all that will be.

From a collector’s standpoint, the FW47’s livery is a Show Car worthy of preservation. Every gradient and accent tells the story of a team that has fought back from adversity to rise again. The addition of the trademark Gulf colours to this specific edition creates a timeless composition that would stand as proudly in a gallery as it does on the grid.

Featuring the exact look of the car that competed in South America during the milestone 75th anniversary season, it is the perfect visual metaphor for the rebirth of one of Formula 1’s most beloved teams, seeking the dawn of a new golden era. Now, you can become the proud owner of this unique and bold masterpiece.

Auction Buyers Guide

Our team's primary aims are to source the most unique items for our auctions and to make participating in our online events enjoyable and easy for our buyers. We endeavour to do this whilst offering a personalised service to all.

Step 1: Register to Bid

To register as a bidder, create an account on our account. You'll be asked to provide your credit card details, and a temporary charge will be placed on the account for the duration of the auction to minimise fraudulent accounts from interfering with the bidding process.

Step 2: Place Your Bid

Items at auction may be sold with or without a reserve price, and will be clearly identified as such during the auction.

For a sale to be successful a bid must equal or exceed the reserve. In the event that you are the highest final bidder, but the total bid remains under the reserve price the item will not sell.

Popcorn Bidding: All lots use a 5-minute time extension system. If a bid is placed within the final 5 minutes, the lot’s end time will extend by another 5 minutes. This can continue for up to 24 hours after the original closing time.

Items that are sold without a reserve will be clearly identified as such during the auctions. In their case the highest final bid will always win the item.

Items that do not meet reserve or do not receive any bids will not sell. Upon the closure of the auction these will be removed and managed independently by our specialists. Interested parties are invited to engage with our private sales team to make an offer.

Step 3: Make Payment

We pride ourselves in offering our customers a variety of payment options to satisfy their preferences. Upon conclusion of the auction the F1® Authentics sales platform will automatically issue a payment link to the winning bidder.

Payment is due in full by the end of the first business day following a sale. Proof of payment will be required and requested by our specialists.

Auction hammer price is exclusive of buyer's premium and sales tax, and exclusive of import duties and VAT.

All invoices and payments will be in Great British Pounds (GBP).

Step 4: Lot Shipment

Memento Exclusives operates with several reputable logistics experts. Our partners have experience coordinating the worldwide shipment of valuable and delicate vehicles and collectibles and will ensure products are treated with the utmost care.

Upon conclusion of a sale our specialist will contact the winning bidder to discuss delivery options. Air and sea freight quotes can be produced for items.
