Story
The Alfa Romeo C42 competed in the 2022 F1® World Championship, with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu at the helm. It marked their first season with the team and Zhou’s first year in F1®. The C42 was built to the new regulations that were introduced across the grid for the 2022 season (originally planned for 2021 but the Covid-19 pandemic delayed these changes). One of these significant changes included larger wheels – a noticeable size difference when compared with a wheel rim from the previous season.
The team performed well in 2022, finishing sixth in the Constructors’ Championship and claiming points finishes at 10 races throughout the season. Their best result came at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where Bottas finished seventh in the Sprint Race and fifth in the main Grand Prix, achieving a total of 12 points for the team.
