A Running Classic – The Benetton B198 Race Car
F1® Authentics is proud to present the Official Benetton B198 - an original, fully authentic F1® running race car from the 1998 FIA Formula One World Championship™.
This extraordinary piece of racing history was campaigned by the Benetton F1® Team during the 1998 season with drivers Alexander Wurz and Giancarlo Fisichella at the helm. The team secured fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship that year, amassing 33 points in a competitive grid dominated by the likes of McLaren and Ferrari.
This particular chassis has undergone a detailed inspection and subsequent engine rebuild, ensuring that it remains operational as a running car. The rebuilt engine has between 1,500 and 2,000 km of life remaining - making it suitable for static display or selective demonstration running under controlled conditions.
Visually, the B198 stands out with its iconic blue and white livery, accentuated by aerodynamic cues characteristic of the late 1990s era of F1® - an era defined by rising innovation and fierce on-track rivalries.

Story
All original carbon fibre suspension has been taken off and replaced with new fabricated steel wishbones, all of which are in perfect working order. Original carbon wishbones are to be supplied with the car.
The gearbox was also stripped and inspected, and was fitted with new gears, and a re-built gearbox with new bearings. A set of gears will last at race pace around 300 miles if being driven for track days and shake down, recommended to be changed once a season. The gearbox has had new internals, so it has around 300 miles life left on the gears.
Original Brembo brakes have been fitted and brake lines are all in good condition.
All four wheel bearings have been replaced – a new set will be required at least every season if car is having regular use, these have around 1,000 miles life expectancy.
